Author Guidelines

Welcome to Cognexa

Cognexa: Digital Media, Marketing and AI Review applies a two-stage submission philosophy designed to eliminate formatting barriers and focus the author's effort where it matters most: the quality of the research.

STAGE 1 — SUBMISSION  |  Any format accepted. We evaluate your research, not your margins.

Submit your manuscript in Word and PDF format through the OJS system by logging in and filling in the corresponding submission details.

One of the most relevant features of Cognexa is that authors can submit their manuscripts in any format (respecting the APA rules for references and citations), and once approved by blind peer review, the author will be asked to adapt it to the journal's format.

STAGE 2 — POST-ACCEPTANCE  |  Accepted manuscripts must be formatted with the Cognexa APA Template.

The editorial team will not reject a manuscript on the basis of formatting. Once your article has passed peer review and been accepted for publication, you will receive the official Cognexa formatting template and a detailed checklist to prepare the final version.

Description of stage 1

Before You Submit

1. Scope Check

Before preparing your submission, verify that your manuscript falls within the journal's declared scope. Cognexa focuses on the intersection of digital media, marketing communication, and artificial intelligence.

2. Eligibility Requirements

All submissions must meet the following non-negotiable eligibility conditions:

  • The manuscript is original and has not been published in full elsewhere.
  • The manuscript is not under simultaneous review at any other journal or venue.
  • All co-authors have approved the submission and agree with the listed authorship order.
  • The research was conducted in accordance with applicable ethical standards; any required institutional ethics approval has been obtained.
  • All authors have disclosed any conflicts of interest and all sources of funding.

3. Manuscript Types and Lengths

The following word count limits apply to the final accepted version. At submission, manuscripts may exceed these limits by up to 20%; manuscripts significantly longer than the upper limit should contact the editorial office in advance.

¿What to Include in Your Submission (Stage 1)?

Your submission package at Stage 1 must include the following elements. You are free to use any font, margin, line spacing, and citation style. We recommend clarity and readability but impose no typographic requirements.

The manuscript file must be prepared for double-blind review: it must contain no author names, affiliations, ORCID identifiers, acknowledgements, or any other identifying information. Self-citations may be included but should be anonymised (e.g., 'Author, 2023' or '[ANONYMISED]').  Include all of the following elements in the order shown:

▸  Title.  In English and Spanish. Concise, descriptive, and informative. Maximum 20 words per language. Avoid acronyms, jargon, and promotional language.

▸  Abstract.  In English (required) and Spanish (strongly recommended). Structured or unstructured as specified in Section 1.3. Do not include citations in the abstract.

▸  Keywords.  5 to 8 keywords per language (English and Spanish). Use terms from recognised thesauri where possible (e.g., UNESCO Thesaurus, MeSH, ACM Computing Classification). Do not repeat words already in the title.

▸  Body of the manuscript.  Organised with clear section headings. Typical structure for empirical papers: Introduction · Literature Review / Theoretical Framework · Methodology · Results · Discussion · Conclusions · Limitations and Future Research. Qualitative, theoretical, and review articles may use alternative structures appropriate to their genre.

▸  References.  Any standard citation format is accepted at this stage (APA, MLA, Chicago, Vancouver, IEEE, etc.), provided it is applied consistently. References will be standardised to APA 7th edition at Stage 2.

▸  Figures and Tables.  Embedded in the manuscript. Must be numbered consecutively and include a descriptive caption. Data sources must be indicated beneath each figure and table. Minimum resolution for figures: 300 dpi.

▸  Supplementary Materials (optional).  Appendices, raw data tables, interview guides, coding schemes, or any supporting material not included in the main text. Submit as separate files.

Title Page (Separate File)

Submit a separate title page any format file that will NOT be sent to reviewers. This file must include:

  • Full title in English and Spanish.
  • Full name of each author (in the order they should appear in the published article).
  • Institutional affiliation of each author: department, faculty/school, institution, city, country.
  • ORCID identifier of each author (mandatory). If you do not have an ORCID, register free at orcid.org before submitting.
  • Email address of the corresponding author (the one who will receive all editorial correspondence).
  • Author Contribution Statement following the CRediT taxonomy (see Section 5.3).
  • Acknowledgements (funding, institutional support, technical assistance).
  • Funding Statement: list all funding sources; if none, state 'This research received no external funding.'
  • Conflict of Interest Statement: declare all conflicts; if none, state 'The authors declare no conflict of interest.'
  • Data Availability Statement: indicate where data can be accessed or explain any restrictions.
  • Ethics Statement (if applicable): state the approving body, approval number, and date.
